Price of my magazine

I have decided my target audience will be students who attend school or college. I have taken in to consideration the other ways they spend their money and have come up with the conclusion they may not have a lot of money.  Although this is a factor my magazine still needs to make money as I want it to be of high standard. I have chosen to price my magazine at £2.50 this will be affordable but make my magazine a profit.
Every issue will be published monthly making it easily affordable. Each issue will include a different up -coming artist who will do an interview to introduce who they are. They will be a chart update and competitions to be won. It will appeal to all ages in my target audience.

LIIAR anaylsis of content page 1

L-The content page of this magazine fits well with the house-style colours of the magazine cover. They have contiued the colour white, red and black. This is to represent the magazine. For the  special Oasis feature they have changed the colour to make it eye catchign and to stand out against the colour and font of the other text. The image of the band stands out at it has more colours to it. The image is shot from a low angle this makes the band domanante on the page as if the readers are looking up to them.
I-The publisher of Q magazine is Beaur Media Group. They publish Q monthly.
I-For this particular issue they will draw in the right audience maybe fans of Oasis the content page gives a teaser to what their special is about making the reader want to read on. It also informs the monthly reader what the magazine content will be about. Or to new reader by having the ‘Every Monthly’ they can see what content the magazine contains every month.
A-The audience for this issue will be monthly readers, new readers and fans. The content page fits for all audiences by giving little bits of information to fit their specific needs.
R-The content page has featured different content fitting to a wide audience. This is a positive image for the magazine creating content for specific needs. They have used a well known band this gives a positive image for the magazine.

L- Q’s masthead for this is just a letter which compared to other magazines is different and would stand out on a magazine shelf and because it’s placed at the left hand side it would be seen behind other magazines on a shelf. The colours are eye catching the red and white font against the black background stands out. The image is a close up this shows the artists expression which looks seductive and rebellious. Her red lip stick goes with the font at the bottom of the image and the highlight around the masthead. The rain makes the image look more seductive which would be appealing to men. The flash stands out and as it’s highlighted in a grey colour would stand out and draw attention to the reader or fans of John Lennon. The slogan ‘The UK’s biggest music magazine’ stands out against the red masthead because it’s white but matches the house-style colours.
I-Bauer Media Group publish Q magazine every month. They publish every issue monthly. Bauer Media Group also publish for women’s magazine such as Heat, More, Grazia and Closer. They also publish for men’s magazines such as FHM, Zoo and Arena HOMME.
I-The content of the magazine fits well with the target audience which will be monthly readers or fans of the artist. The genre of this issue will be a pop genre which will draw in an audience. Q changes its cover every month changing it to different artists who will draw in a wide audience and this would sell well for the magazine. The seductive image of the artist will draw in men this is a selling point for the magazine to get someone young and attractive to draw in men/women.
A- The target audience for this magazine would be a pop audience because of the artist but her fans would be drawn to buying it and monthly reader or men who think she’s attractive. The magazine will draw a different target audience every month by changing the cover and the artist on it.
R-Q has created a positive image for their magazine by having a specific target audience in mind every month and changing the content to fit this. This is a positive way to sell their magazine.

LIAAR analysis of a front cover 2

L- NME is well known for pushing limits on what is exceptable in society. They have used the red black and orange/yellow to create a eye catching rebelious cover which draws attention to the image as well as the fonts and colours. The fonts are different but the artists name and the text suggesting what her purpose is are different and stand out against the small texts and sub texts. The text ‘Kiss My Arse’ is very suggestive this could draw the audiences attention away from the naked image and towards why she wants people to kiss her arse. The image is a medium shot to show the artists pose which is turned from the camera this could be to tease the audience. The image isnt what the media would class as apporciate as the female artists isnt the typical skinny blonde you’d usually see she’s of bigger size and her tattoo and black hair show she doesn’t want to be like all the other girls. NME have used this image to show that they arent going to use the stereotype. The text is relevant to the image as she has lip marks on her bum cheek and the text sits just above her bum. The magazine also features a flash to indicate the free poster this could draw in a wider audience.
I-The publisher of this magazine is IPC Media. They also publish for TV Times, Pick Me Up, Marie Claire and a lot more. They publish different types of genres of magazine. They publish for a wide audience. From parents to gardeners and teenagers.
I-The genre of this magazine  would fit with the target audience. Every issue is changed so whatever the artist is will depend on what type of audience will buy the magazine. So for this particular cover you’ll get fans of Beth Ditto or maybe ladies of a bigger nature who may think she’s an inspiration for getting her clothes off for the size she is and not caring that she isnt the stereotype.
A-The target audience for this magazine would be fans of Beth Ditto, women who are inspired by her for been a larger lady and not going with the stereotype. Other readers could include weekly reader of the magazine. Having a huge artist on the cover will be a selling point for the magazine as they will have a huge fan base making it a seller.
R-This cover would gain a lot of respect off larger women or may go the opposite way and get a lot of bad press for having this image.

LIAAR anaylsis of a front cover 1

L-The magazine masthead is covered by the artists hair. This is a typical feauture of the rolling stones magazine as almost every celebrity featured on the cover has their head/hair covering the masthead this could show that the magazine is popular you don’t need to see the full masthead to know it’s one of their magazines. The house style colours of red white and black is featured to show this is a typical Rolling Stone feature. They carry the theme of these colours on to the font around the artist. The font is bold to draw your attention to what content the magazine has. The text ‘SUPER BOY’ is bigger than the rest of the font  this is to draw the audiences attention to it and makes them wonder why he’s a super boy tempting them to buy this issue and find out why. There is a flash these are used to draw the attention on the audience to a particular feature in the magazine, on this front colour the flash is a different colour to the house style therefore drawing the audience to that. The image of the artist is a medium close-up this is to show his relaxed body language showing he is comfortable in his surroundings. His hair and clothes are wild this could relate back to him been a super boy by his change in image.

I-The Rolling Stones magazine is published and produced by Wenner Media. Jann Wenner is editor and publisher for this particular publishing company. He is also publisher for US weekly and Men’s journal these are both huge selling magazines in the US.

I-The artist is a pop artist so this issue will be aimed at a pop audience. The magazine changes it’s genre every week to fit around the celebrity on the front cover. They do this so they can draw in a wide audience and fit to everyone’s needs. The image fits with the house style of the magazine he looks comfortable in his surrondings and his body language shows he is comfrotable in the world of the media. Th house style colours are eye catching and fit well with the magazine and the rebelious image the artist is trying to create with the costume and pose.

A-The target audience for this issue would be a pop audience or fans of the artist or even weekly reader. The fan audience would be drawn to the issue for the purpose that their favourite artist is on this for Rolling Stones would be a good selling point every week. Rolling Stones change their image every week this would draw the celebrities fans to it and that would be a selling point and a way to become known.

R-Rolling Stones have created a positive image for itself by becoming well known for it’s features. It has a target audience in mind every week making it a good positive way to sell and represents the magazine.

LIAAR anaylsis of the brief

Music Magazine

L- My magazine front cover will contain a mast head and a main image. The image will be of my own girl band consisting of my two best friends. I want my magazine to be for teenagers so I’m going to use 3 house-style colours that are bright, funky and very young. My front cover will have other images on relating to the content in the magazine. I will have an image of prize which could be won for a competition in the magazine. I am also going to contain the price and the issue of my magazine with the barcode this is typical of a magazine.
I-I will be in charge of the production process of this magazine it will be produced and published by myself.
I-My magazine will be targeted at teenaged girls and boys. It will aim to promote new bands and to keep them updated on recent events happening in the music industry and gigs concerts or performances that will be up coming.
A-My target audience is teenagers (13-19 year olds) it will be for both genders but only for people who like pop music. It will be cheap and easily available for teenagers who don’t have a lot of money.
R-I would like the magazine to create a positive stereotype of the readers. As my target audience is for both genders between the age of 13-19 I would like it to come across as you and not the usual stereotype for people of this age group.

Task 15

Feedback
L-For my magazine front cover I have used a masthead, house-style colours and a main image. From the feedback I got off a Wyke College student she said my used of font and colours makes the magazine stand out and is very eye catching. She also commented on my main image which she said made the college appear a happy, friendly environment she also commented on my skyline text saying it gives the students a happy feeling as it shows the college take an interest into their needs and interests. The only negative thing she said about my magazine is that she thinks the price is ridiculous as she said the magazine costs a lot to produce and with it been free it wouldn’t make any profits.
I-The institution of my magazine was a Wyke produced by me a student of Wyke. The audience knew this but failed to write about it in her feedback.
I-My magazine was meant to be a fun magazine which would have a lot of content about social outings and places to go for cheap outfits and cheap places to go on a weekend with friends. I think I achieved this by making the colours as bright and fun as possible but I didn’t manage to get the content right. But I did mention the needs of revision which my audience feedback said showed an interested from the college to the students in their needs.
A-The target audience for my magazine were students who attend Wyke, I think this came across as the model is a student who attends Wyke and the features of the content were things involving students and the activates and different things going on around Wyke. The feedback shows I have achieved this because she commented on the fact it’s for teens who are obviously the students at Wyke and she also stated the college is taking an interesting into the students life.
R-My aim was to create a fun friendly environment a positive image for Wyke which I think already exists but I wanted to represent this in my magazine cover. From my audience feedback I have achieved this also as she said the image and the colours give it a friendly fun environment feel.

Task 14

Jasmine's feedback of front cover:-
I like the colouring of the font as it stands out really well. I like the image as it represents the college, a happy, friendly environment. The features are also representive of the college as they features things which teens and students feel consious of, such as; revision. I like the 'Skyline' text as it gives students a happy feeling that the college does care about there intrests and needs. I think the price is a little ridiclious because your never going to make a profit, the magazine has to make money to produce more. Apart from that a great magazine front cover which will attract attention to possible readers.

Jasmine's feedback of internet page:-
The internet page is well laid out but I don't understand the use of red, however it is well set out and people will be able to access it easily and can clearly see the main feature and image. The smaller features are also easier to see and would be able to access easier.

Task 11

Task 10

Task 12

I would also market my magazine as a web page. This would be good for students who were way or absent the day the magazine was given out in tutor. The webpage would be easy to access at home or at college.

Task 12

Marketing Campaign

To spread the word on my magazine I would create a page on Facebook as most students from Wyke are users of Facebook this would be a good way to spread the word and get ideas off the students for the next issue and to hear the feedback from the previous one.
I would also send an email to all the students to let them know when the next issue will be handed to them in tutor. I would fill them in on the ideas I might be using and send an online email survey they would fill in so they can have an input into what they read and what content they would like to see in the magazine.
